stem cell therapy in optic atrophy
Is stem cell therapy in optic atrophy a standard clinical practice? If not, has there been any animal and clincial experiment or research in medical field? I found there are quite a few testmonial cases of optic atrophy who was treated with stem cell (umblical cord blood mesenchymal stem cell) in China. I would like to know more about the pathogenesis and cause of optic atrophy and modalities of treatment by the neurologicst and opphthalmologist.

This discussion is related to Optic atrophy cure.

NO it is not standard. The studies in China have not been duplicated in the West.

The whole field of medicine would love to be able to do more for optic atrophy.

You can Google optic atrophy and spend days reading.

A very interesting new approach is nanotechnology.
