strabismus adult surgery

I am 28 years old. i have an intermittent exotropia since childhood. i am planning to go for strabismus surgery in next month. i dont have double vision . but when doctor examined my eyes by prism testing i experienced double vision. except during this test i havnt experieneced double vision in my life. docter has advised me surgery in both eyes and he told me that getting double vision after surgery in my case is very rare. i dont want to take any chance or any complications after surgery so I want to know that what is the possiblity of getting double vision in intermittent exotropia after strabismus surgery. i am going for the surgery by Dr Louis E. Furlan, M.D.  from Pedriatic ophthalmic

he will perform the surgery in New York Eye & Ear Infirmary.. so i  also want to know how is this hospital and my doctor for this surgery.

DON'T DO it..... My doc did the same with me, double vision very rare, now 4 years later I still have CONSTANT double vision. oh by the way, before the surgery I had single vision.... Need I say more...................................................................
