sudden eye turn in 3 1/2yr old

by jai_33, Jun 29, 2009 06:42PM
we've just noticed in the past two week that my sons eye turns in sometimes, today it seemed to be stuck all day.
i took him to our eye doctor, she has made a referal to a paediatric optamologist (that may take 3-4months) in the mean time she is treating  him with glasses. should I be worried? i am! i was born with strabismus. both my kids have been fine until just now with the youngest.
his last appointment was 6months ago and she noticed some far sightedness, if we'd treated him then with glasses could this possibly not  happened?
he also squints alot, always has (guessing due to the focusing issues)
thanks
J

I would get in to see a pediatric ophthalmologist right away.  I don't know what else to say, except for me 3-4 months is too long, not only because you need to find out the proper treatment and prognosis but also you will be worrying all the time and that's not good for anyone.  Call the doctor and get the appointment moved up. Are you in Canada or UK?? Why such a long wait????

we are in Canada, apparently 3 opthalmologist in area have retired so we're being sent 1hour away to London, Ontario Canada, the wait will be this long, my dr. assures me that the glasses will help & that the referral is b/c of my neurological issues...
i have a pediatric eye surgeon from awhile back have put a call into to him to see if he can see my son sooner, given that I'm a patient of his? don't know if it will happen, not sure what protocol is.
