the pupil

would it be accurate to say that the pupil is really just the darkness behind the iris because there is no light coming out of it.I mean it isnt really a physical part of the eye like the sclera or cornea or iris..no???

That would be incorrect. The pupil is the hole in the iris. The pupil is not always dark. Many photographs show a red pupil due to flash reflection.
