treatment for congenital nystagmus

My first male child who is 19 years now is suffering from congenital nystagmus. There is sideways head movement while reading or concentrating. He is wearing spectacles since he was 3 years old. Last year he tried soft contact lenses but was not comfortable. Though he is doing well in academics, seeing from a distance is still his problem. What aids can be provided to him to improve his vision?
His power is:
Right eye: Sph.  -2.75      cyl.  -4.75    Axis   15
Left eye :  Sph.  -2.50      cyl.  -4.25    Axis   170

See an Eye MD ophthalmologist that specializes in squint/strabismus. Sometime eye muscle surgery can be done to reduce head movement. You do not say what his visual acuity is. If it is poor even with glasses then low visual aids may be helpful.
