upper lid infectiononly or shingles involvement

I have had the shingles a few times ,am aged 60,  and presently have one sore that could be shiigles on my right hairline/ temple area . Yesterday, I woke up with a tender upper left eyelid and today it got redder on the outside and on the lining of the inside upper eyelid but the eye itself seems O.K. .  I went to a G.P today who gave me some ointment to put on it . However it occured to me later I should have mentioned that I have had the shingles , but the sore is on the right temple and its the left eye .  Perhaps I should go back to the G.P tomorrow with my concerns , it's a weekend here,unsure what to do.?.  Apparently there don't  have to necessarily be a lot of  shingles sores to  have eye involvement, I read somewhere on the net. I do know a lady who had a lot more symptoms the very sore hairline etc and she went up to the hospital . Can the shingles involved be minor in comparison, or do I just have an eyelid infection, similar to conjuctivitis ?  Pain is not very severe but eye red and tender , seem to notice a lot then, then not so much,.& have not taken any painkillers.

Shingles can  affect the eyelid and affect the eye which can be serious.   See an EyeMD (ophthalmologist).
