vision loss in one eye

vision loss in one eye

I am 40 years old, wear glasses with prisms and have a lazy eye.  Over the last two weeks I have lost most of my sight in my right eye, the one that has given me most of my problems in the past.  The vision loss aligns with macular degeneration - I can see only a little in the center of my field of vision but the edges are better.  I was tested by my doctor and an opthamologist on Friday and "nothing was found" - though I return on Monday to have a photograph taken of my eye.  I also flew to China and back - returning on Friday, though the condition was there while in China and I think it was there a little before I left.  Are there other things this could be besides macular degeneration?  I am planning to have a transatlantic flight on Tuesday after the appointment and want to have my doctor in the US evaluate as well but am worried about flying.

It could also be optic nerve disease.  See a neuro-ophthalmologist.
