vitrectomy and cataracts

by lovetoseewell, Nov 05, 2009 06:49PM
Had vitrectoctomy 2001 for detached retina, lost perevial vision, but surgery went well, but developed cataract by the time the eye patch came off so my vision has been horrible since then.  Although with some special test was told once cataract was removed would regain normal vision,(have always been nearsighted) and should be back to where it was.  But due to the risk of another detachment put off surgery until 2008 for the cataracts. Dr. said my vision was excellent considering.  But after a few days my vision was definitely more clear, but even with new glasses not only could I not see well far off , i could also not see close up.  So I have poor vison with or without the glasses and I feel pressure at times in this eye, and a great sensitivity to natural light.  Is there any point in going back to doctors, if this is as good as it's going to get?

There is merit to seeing a different doctor a retima specialist or neuroophthalmologist for a second opinion. In the USA find one at www.aao.org
