vitreoretinal surgery for glaucoma patients

Does having glaucoma pose an additional risk factor or contraindication to having vitreoretinal surgery (specifically ERM/ILM peel for macular pucker that has accompanied 14 months of macular edema)?

Probably not a big problem as long as the glaucoma is mild and well controlled.  It would be very important to closely monitor the pressure postoperatively.  Postop steroids can also cause some increase in eye pressure in 10-15% of patients also.  If the glaucoma is very advanced and difficult to control, it could be a much more complicated to have safe ELM peeling since any spikes in pressure could put the optic nerve in jeopardy. You would have to carefully weigh the risk vs benefits in that case.
