vitreous hemorrhage

by perucho, Feb 02, 2008 04:14PM
My husband was recently diagnosed with a vitreous hemorrhage. His doctor felt he should wait it out and see a retina specialist  next week,While at work he did not avoid performing heavy labor andsays he sees a bubble that moves from side to side . I  attempted to get him to the ER but he wants to wait until next week to see the specialist Since I can't get him to the ER ,should we wait for the appointment with the retinal specialist or should he see his regular opthamologist this week?
Thank you

It's ok to see regular ophthalmologist this week.  If the hemorrhage is large, then no-one will be able to see the source of the bleeding and your husband may have to stay at rest in bed with head upright until blood settles.  Then retinal specialist may be able to identifiy and treat the underlying problem.
