vitreous pulling away

vitreous pulling away

Hi, Dr,

I had laser treatment for tears three months ago.  My doctor has cleared me for international travel during the last check up(3 weeks ago).

Today I went to a different Dr for check up(the office is much closer), for I "think" I see some very tiny/faint bright spots occasionally(those spots come and go very quickly).  and He commented that I don't have new tears, but he saw a little part of my vitreous is pulling away and some area in retina is thinning.  I have already called my original Dr's office and confirmed they have also seen this.

My question is once the viterous starts pulling away, how long does it take for it to finish the process(full detachment)?  During this process, is it wise to cancel the international travel(which is to Peru and a rural island for 2 weeks.) I am concerned about not being able to get the necessary med care there due to language and all other things.

Thank you very much!

also if people have tears they must have viterous pulling away?  I am a little surprised that my first Dr didn't comment anything in that regard.  Thanks!

You have asked this question in one form or another several times and have been answered. If you wish to learn more use the search and archives to read about PVD (posterior vitreous detachment) and laser treatment. It's all been discussed. I will have no more individual comments.
