wavy vertical vision

wavy vertical vision

During cataract surgery a small piece of old lens fell to the back of my eye, I then had to go to a retina specialist to remove the piece of lens, After recovery period when able to see again, the vertical vision in that eye is wavy, When I told the Doctor of my problem, I was told that the wavy was always there and my cataract vision was hiding it, I'm sure if I had waviness before cataract surgery I would have noticed it. Could that be true?....thank You Gugie35

I do not understand your description "your vertical vision is wavy".  Whether you would have noticed this depends on how bad your vision was before cataract surgery.  A condition called epiretinal membrane can make your reading (straight head, detailed) vision wavy-seeming although usually not just in the vertical direction.  After complicated cataract surgery epiretinal membrane is a definite possibility.  Ask your retina doctor to check you for epiretinal membrane and to perform an Amsler grid test on you.
