weightlifting and glaucoma risk

I have recently picked up weightlifting again after a 7 year hiatus. I then read that weightlifting has been suggested as a risk factor for glaucoma. Do you guys have any ideas on this potential link? I saw a Brazilian study that suggested a potential link. These fellows measured the pressure during heavy bench presses and the intraocular pressure of the subjects went up an average of between 3 and 5 mm Hg during the lifts depending upon whether the breath was held during the repetition. Also, what are your thoughts on whether my previous years of heavy lifting could contribute to glaucoma in the future? Thanks. It seems like everything we do contributes to something!!!
