weiss rings and cataracts

Hi Doctor; had a really rough year; i have this weiss ring floater that looks like mickey mouse; i call it mickey.  Does it really go away?  I have it in front of my vision and it wiggles and goes around.  I am getting used to it but i also have little floaters; i just had cataract surgery too and have double vision; does that go away?  Thanks for any help; please notify me when you answer my question; ***@**** this has been a rough eye ride; how do you get used to seeing the wiggling around your eye without making you dizzy and motion sickness at times.  That is starting to get better though.  My flashes are settling down too.  I go to a great surgeon and he follows me up; he checks my retina and said no tears or detachment so far.  Can he see the flashes or is that on my end?  This has been a rough year for me; I have a few floaters in the right eye and a small cataract not ripe yet; my surgery went very well.  I am doing all the restrictions but have these annoying floaters from before.  THanks for any advice.  Barbara.  Nice to meet you too doctor.

Most people (me included) have the ability to "tune out" floaters even large Weiss ring floaters due to neuroadaptation. So try and just forget about it.

Your MD can NOT see the flashes. Hopefully the double vision will clear up.

Share your concerns and questions with your eye MD surgeon. He/she is in the best position to give specific answers.

Thanks Dr. Hagan for responding!  I feel a lot better.  Barbara.  Just in pain right now from the stitches; will keep you posted on my double vision too.

HI again; what does it mean that my floaters are getting tinier all the time?  Is that a good sign that they are going away from the retina?  They are so small; i never saw them that way before?  Thanks again.

Tinier means further from the retina, smaller image.

Hi Dr. Hagan; thanks for the response; can they disappear if they are getting tinier?  Thanks; I cannot believe how tiny they have become.  Barb.  Have a Merry Christmas!  I go for my cataract followup tomorrow.  I hope no problems; I do ask him about my PVD; i think he said that it was completed not sure but will make sure on that.  If there is no detachment or tear can the floaters disappear after the PVD is finished?  I am not seeing as many as i used too?  Thanks

Ask Santa to make your floaters go away.

Just kidding yes they can go away especially if the vitreous 100% liquifies and the floaters settle to the bottom of the eye.

Hi I have these huge hollow floater rings (one is actually a mickey mouse with only one ear) and a round one in the other eye.  I have had retinal detachments as a kid and cataracts 4 years go.  What do these weiss rings look like are they hollow?  I just refer to these as floaters and have not heard the term weiss ring.  Maybe thats what I have.  They seem like big bubbles of fluid that are clear.  I can see the periphery of the bubble but it is not solid black like a regular floater.  Also it floats like a floater.  I have 2 of these in one eye (left eye this happened after a YAG) and the right eye just one that just started up.  Retinal specialst says he wants to "watch" these, but I did not hear these referred to as weiss rings.  thank you

Weiss rings start off looking like a very tiny donut (or cheerio) because the tear, twist, bend they can be almost any shape. Go to Google IMAGES type in Weis Ring and look at pictures of them.
