what to do now?

what to do now?

My daughter, whom I adopted 2 years ago and will be 3 years now,is detected with high minus power : -16 in one eye and -6 in another. The doctor is telling that it may be due to infection  during delivery. Again there is a crack in the retina in the eye with -6 power. There will be retinal check up after 3 months.
I want to know is she totally blind in one eye? Can she ever lead a normal life? What can I do now? Is there any treatment? Please advise.

You need to remain under the care of qualified ophthalmologists. It is unlikely that your daughter will be totally blind. Her condition does threaten her ability to read BUT THERE ARE WONDERFUL NEW TREATMENTS FOR NEOVACULAR MEMBRANES FROM MYOPIC CRACKS IN THE MACULA.

If you live near a medical school with a department of ophthalmology get a second opinion there.
