when should farsighted glasses be worn?

My son is 6yrs old and recently went to the eye doctor. She gave a precription but I wanted to know when he should wear his glasses. They seem to be very strong and he wants to wear them all the time. I was just wondering if it was safe to wear them all the time. Also I would like his prescription explained to me.  His prescription is as follows:

OD +3.00 -.50 85
OS +3.00 -.50 95

First and foremost if you child is not under the care of an eye MD ophthalmologist then hold off on the glasses and see an Eye MD. Find one near you (in USA) at www.aao.org elsewhere ask you GP to refer you.

Assuming that RX is correct that amount of farsightedness (and very small amount of astigmatism) could cause eye crossing, amblyopia and the child will have to work twice as hard as normal to read without glasses.
