wide open nasolacrimal duct, tearing, mucus, blowing nose

This is a buildup on questions others have asked and have recieved anwers for. My question is regarding the phrase "wide open nasolacrimal duct" i have seen in other responses.

Ive had no problems with my eyes, in feb 2008 i got lasik, june 2009 i was in vegas and got a sinus infection. after recovery from sinus infection ive had watery left eye., rubbing it with my hands seemed to have caused an infection., mucus in my left eye., after seing an optomologist and getting on zymar + azithromycin + benadryl, the tearing + mucus in eye has reduced. Either eye/duct infection is gone from zymar, or my sinus infec has completely cleared or the benadryl is reducing some alergies... anyway., when i apply warm compress and then blow my nose with left nostril blocked., tears + white mucus drains into eye., this has to do with "wide open nasolacrimal duct" can someone please explain how this happens? is it a side-effect of alergies? can allergies either make it wide open, or closed? or is it wide open due to some kind of allerges..

and my eye itches (left)

i do plan on seeing an alergy specialist to figure out what exactly i am alergic to.

thank you

It's 2012. Time to see if there are more informative sources regarding this condition. My eyes squirt fluid whenever I sneeze or blow my nose. The fluid sprays across my reading glasses (if I'm wearing them). Now, in stark contrast to this excessive fluid situation, both eyes seem to be experiencing "dessicated tears" (according to tests by my optometrist). And, yet, when using Bausch & Lomb "Advanced Eye Relief/Dry Eye" on a regular basis, it seems that I also have a mucus film over part of each eye. As a wild guess, my optometrist suggested Bacitracin ophthalmic ointment. After 10 days of that, no change. While the tear duct spray has been present for decades (and was present in my mother and grandmother's later years), the film on the eyes and the dessicated tears situation are new.

Please adivse, if you're qualified. ;-)

There is a small valve that is not working.  This will probably get better with time.
