worm flash in vision

worm flash in vision

I've been diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa, which is genetic, the cells of my retinas are slowly dying off. But I've been having what I call worm flashes, which are shaped like curved large bright white worms that seem to grow from different locations in the visual field  Several of these organic shaped curved slashes may apear and move across my visual field, then disapear. This occurs in both eyes, so I've been told that it is not in my eyes but in the brain. When I wake up in the morning it will start and usually continues throughout the day, lasting only a couple of seconds.. If I sneeze I see many appear. Or if I do quick Yoga breathing. Two retinal doctors and 2 opthamologist say to see a neurologist and I did, but he does not know what is causing this type of flash. I have done an MRI and have been told it is normal. In the past I have seen zigzag flashes that end in a headache, but these bright white worm flashes have been going on for 2 years now and they're different.  They are not followed by headaches. Can't find a diagnosis.

You might consider contacting the Foundation Fighting Blindess  (paste in your browser) http://www.blindness.org/content.asp?id=9

They have an extensive data base and may be able to determine if  you symptoms can be caused by retinitis pigmentosa.

Hello,

I know this is an old thread, but it's the only one of its kind that I could find.  Were you able to find a diagnosis for the worm flashes?  A couple of weeks ago, I experienced something similar when I sneezed.  I've never seen it before, and haven't seen it since, but it had me concerned enough to Google this.

Thanks.
