yellow/brown spots on eyes

Ive had a strange spot on the white part of my right eye for several years that started out tanish but has progressively gotten darker over the past year and now its brown. I have recently been finding more of these spots on my other eye in the same tanish condition the other one started off as, one right next to the colored part of my eye, and one other very light spot on the white part of the other eye as well. I have attached a picture of what I am referring to, however it was taken on a camera phone so it is difficult to see the contrast. It looks dark enough in person that people have pointed it out to me. Two things to note are: 1) its been suggested in the past that this is just a bruise, but I think its been there too long to be one and it has gotten darker rather than lighter and 2) I am in China for a month and cannot get this checked out by an optometrist until I return.

My question is, could this be a symptom of something concerning? And are there other symptoms I should be looking for?

Most of these are not of concern.  It  there is growth you should have it removed to make sure it is not a melanoma (very very very unlikely).
