Abnormalities in CBC/Iron Tests

Can you explain what the possible reasons would be for the abnormalities shown in these test results of a 39 year old female?  Can you recommend any further tests required to determine the reason for the abnormalities?

I donate blood every 2 months and I take 81 mg of aspirin once a day.

The low MCV, ferritin, along with elevated TIBC (binding capacity) are consistent with iron deficiency anemia.

Heavy periods can lead to this.  If the problem is not GYN-related, I would consider a GI workup (i.e. a colonoscopy) to evaluate the symptoms.

You can discuss these options with your gynecologist, or consider a referral to a gastroenterologist.

I would also consider iron supplementation.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
