Anion Gap result

Received a blood test through Health Quest at work that showed Anion Gap Range of 2 mmol/L this year and last year was 7 mmol/L Reference Range should be between 5-16.  Should I wait another year to see if it changes again?  I am not sure if this is good bad or nothing to be concerned about?

The anion gap is simply the result of the following formula:
AG = Serum Sodium - Serum Chloride - Serum Bicarbonate

Here are some causes of a low anion gap:

# Paraproteinemia (Multiple Myeloma)
# Spurious Hyperchloremia (Bromide toxicity)
# Hyponatremia (low sodium level)
# Hypermagnesemia (high magnesium level)
# Hypoalbuminemia (low albumin level)

You may want to discuss with your physician further tests to evaluate the aforementioned conditions.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
