Cypro and prostatitus

My sincere thanks to Md-KP and Dr. Johnson for their responses to my initial question. Just two follows questions:
1)When I stopped the Cirpo my symptoms returned within one week. After two weeks, I started taking 400mg of Novo-Norfloxacin and my symptoms pretty much stopped within three days. My question is: does the fact that antibitoics worked so well (but only while on them)not prove that my problem includes bacterial prostatitis?  (Some more background: I have never had the test as described where a specimen is squeezed out of my prostate. The Cystoscopy from last June said "chronic granular prostatitus" and confirmed no urethral stricture.)
2) Could there be any link with the fact that my wife is a strep carrier? Many thanks.

To answer your questions:
1) This suggests that there may be bacteria that is susceptible to the antibiotics that you were given.  However, some cases of prostatitis require an extended course of antibiotic treatment for complete eradication.  An ultrasound of the prostate can be considered to look for an abscess - which can also provide a constant source of bacteria.  

The prostatic massage would be helpful to see if the bacteria is susceptible to the antibiotics.

2) I am not aware of a connection between your symptoms and your wife being a strep carrier.
