FOCAL PLEURAL THICKENING

My Radiological Report Impressions stated the following:
TINY PATCHY ROUNDED DENSITIES IN THE LATERAL AND POSTERIOR ASPECTS OF THE RIGHT LUNG BASE WHICH MAY REPRESENT "FOCAL PLEURAL THICKENING" OR "TINY SUBPLERUAL NODULES".  CAN YOU PLEASE EXPLAIN?
THANK YOU.

These are non-specific findings that can be due to inflammation, old disease, or chronic lung changes.

The nodules should be further evaluated to ensure there is nothing cancerous.  A chest CT scan would be the next diagnostic step.

This option should be discussed with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
