Low Beta.. do I still have a chance?

Low Beta.. do I still have a chance?

Well.. two days ago I went in for a beta because I was 2 days late for my cycle (I did an IUI on May 11) It came back positive but the numbers were low.. only 31. I go back in on Friday for another beta test. They told me to be guardedly optimistic. Do I even have that much of a chance?

I did conceive back on Feb.; found out at 16dpo and my beta was 292. I ended up m/c at 5.5 weeks.. but thought the context would be helpful.

Hello - thanks for asking your question.

Here is the normal HCG value chart:
0-1 week: 0-50 IU/L
1-2 weeks: 40 - 300
3-4: 500 - 6,000
1-2 months: 5,000 - 200,000
2-3 months: 10,000 - 100,000
2nd trimester: 3,000 - 50,000
3rd trimester: 1,000 - 50,000
Non-pregnant females: <5.0
Postmenopausal: <9.5

Depending on when a successful intrauterine insemination was performed, you can correlate the beta HCG to the chart above.  If you are 1-2 weeks out, then a level of 31 is a bit low.  The only way to know for sure is to measure serial HCG's as you are doing.

I cannot comment on your chances and probability without examining you.  That is a question for your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
