Odd symptoms lots of tests

Odd symptoms lots of tests

Since October I have had one kidney stone (left), a horrid strep that made the lymph nodes in my neck turn into golf balls, and 3 GI events (flu).  Since January I have had Left upper quad. pain right under my rib cage (on the left side).  I have had cardiac stress test, chest xrays, CT scan and labs all being normal. (stress test and xray in January).  The pain keeps getting worse and in the last 2 weeks has spread to my back under my left shoulder blade.  I went to the ER a few days ago and they found nothing on a CT (with contrast).  CT showed kidney's, spleen, pancreas, etc. all normal.  I also have sharp pain (like a catch) in the same 2 places when I yawn or take a deep breath.  Tried nexium for 2 months with no relief.  No food intolerance OR heartburn.  Seems worse at night.  Was scheduled for upper GI endoscopy but doc was running 3 hours behing and had to reschedule for JUNE!  Hate being in constant pain.  Any thoughts or ideas?  I am a young mom of 3 and hate the thought of there being something seriously wrong that is being "missed."

You have had a pretty comprehensive workup thus far.

I agree with the evaluation of the upper digesive tract as the next step.  The endoscopy is a good idea.  One can also consider an upper GI series first - this may be easier to schedule.  If that, or the endoscopy, is negative, further testing can include a 24-hr pH study, gastric emptying scan, or esophageal motility studies.

A referral to a GI physician can be considered to discuss these more specialized tests.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
