Ovarian Cyst and Ovarian Cancer

I am 41 years old and have no children.  I have had a past history of ovarian cyst and fibroids.  In April of 2007 I had my fourth surgery laperscopy and D&C.  With this surgery they removed cyst form both ovaries and tubes and a mass from my uterus, all of which was benign. June 3 I started to bleed again and have not stopped it is now July 17.  My Dr. found two more cyst one on each ovary and the uterus lining was 14mm.  He put me on Yasmine.  The one cyst on the right ovary went away and the one on the left has remained and is slightly smaller 32mm.  I am bleeding heavier so the Dr. told me to doubel up on th Yasmine.  My questions is should I be concern about cancer.  The Dr. said the cyst was clear.  Can cancer develop that quickly, especially since I just had surgery?  He is pretty sure it is benign. My mother had ovarian cancer and two of her sisters as well.

Cancer can develop at varying rates, although it is less likely it can develop that soon.

Repeating some imaging studies like a transvaginal ultrasound as well as obtaining blood tests like a CA 125 test can be considered if ovarian cancer is suspected.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
