Post Miscarriage - Strange Symptoms

Around December 11 or so, I miscarried.  It was a very early miscarriage. Lots of cramping, but the bleeding was not any different that a regular period. On Dec 24, I started spotting and have been spotting ever since.  I also have this strange pressure/fullness/discomfort on my right side.  When I touch the area, I can feel a lump right around the area where my old c-section incision is.  I called my ob, and the nurse said the dr doesn't need to see me, it will just take my body 6-8 weeks to reset itself.  The nurse said that if I am really concerned, I should go to the ER for an ultrasound.

The spotting/bleeding is more of an annoyance than anything, but the pressure/discomfort in my side is getting more and more uncomfortable.  Should I be concerned?  What could be causing this pressure/discomfort?

Hi,

The spotting you are having is not abnormal after a miscarriage, and it may be several weeks before your cycles are back on track.  If the bleeding is becoming heavy, you are having increasing pelvic pain, fevers, foul smelling discharge, you should be assessed by your doctor.

If this discomfort in the area of your Csection scar is increasing, you need to have it examined.  You can develop hernias, and various other types of growths in and around the scar that can cause pain, so you should make an appointment with your gyne, and they should be able to tell you whether you need further investigation based on a more thorough history and physical.   Keep in mind that your appendix is also in the lower right quadrant of your abdomen, so if you are having significant pain and tenderness in that area, you should go to the ER.

Hope you are feeling better.  Happy New Year.
