RASH

RASH

Okay. This will be the same question I posed 2 other forums & I guess have been convinced that I am safe from any STD. HIV was my concern, but now I just don't know.

It may have been just coincidence, but just 10 days after an unpotected(sex) 1 night stand with a woman in which I had vaginal intercourse only...Well, I developed a rash. I first noticed a deep dark red rash on each of my upper inner thighs (groin area). It didn't itch at all, I then noticed little pin point red measle looking bumps on my legs and more of a rash on my forearams. Well the red rashes in the groin area went away in 2-3 days as well as the redness on my forearms, but what appears to be heat bumps (real tiny) still exists mainly on my legs (thigh area) & to a smaller degree, also on my inner forearms.

Just to inform you; I work inside and don't believe this exposure is due to heat stroke, exhaustion, or any other heat related illness.

So, with knowing that. Do you have any other explanation for this rash episode?

Difficult to say without examination.  Dermatitis or a fungal rash can be common causes of a groin rash.  Other possibilities can include folliculitis or other type of skin infection.

If dermatitis is suspected, a steroid cream should be considered.  An antifungal cream can be used if a fungal rash is suspected.  Folliculitis or other type of bacterial skin infections can be treated with antibiotics.

You can consider having this looked at by a dermatologist if the diagnosis is still in question.  Blood tests for HIV can be done if this is suspected.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
