Rash on forearms/knees wont go away

Over the summer while on vacation I developed a rash which appears on my forearms and the areas around me knees.  I blew it off just thinking it was a reaction to the bed sheets in my hotel, or insect bites.  It has been 6 months and the rash is still around.  When it comes up the only symptom I have is that it itches.  The rash itself if pinkish in color and usually shows up on both arms/knees at the same time and in equal amounts.  I have found that using Cortizone helps with the itch but does not make it go away.  What I have found is that taking Claritin will make it go away completely, but I have to take it everyday or it will come back.  I have also checked and none of my soaps, deodorants, etc is the problem.

At the 2 links below you can view the pictures of what it looks like on my forearms:

Any idea on what this is?  I am in the middle of switching health care providers so I am not able to get into the doctors for the next month.  So any advice on a cream/pill to get rid of this would be great!  Thanks!

Possibilities can include a fungal infection or inflammation/dermatitis of the skin.

I would be evaluated by a dermatologist for a more definitive diagnosis.  Prescription antifungal creams (if fungal) or prescription steroid creams (if dermatitis) can be considered.

If the dermatologist or your physician is unsure, there are creams that combine both a steroid and antifungal medication.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
