Slight under arm pain

Slight under arm pain

The last several months I have been feeling a slight under arm pain. Mostly under the right arm. Sometimes it is just a twinge. Feeling the area I do not encounter any pain when applying pressure. I do not see any swelling.I am 39. I work out and ride motorcycles. This is new. I am concerned it could be something serious.

There are several possibilities.  They can include a cyst, abscess, muscle inflammation or enlargement of the lymph nodes.  All of these possibilities can certainly irritate nerves in the area, leading to arm pain.

Depending on where the pain is, you may want to consider treating any muscle inflammation first to decrease any nerve irritation.

In terms of imaging studies, an ultrasound or CT scan can be discussed to evaluate for any of the potential causes listed above.  These options should all be discussed with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
