Spine Compression from Uterine Ablation

Spine Compression from Uterine Ablation

Hi All,

I am a 52 year woman who had an utrine ablation in Dec '06. Since then I have had lower back pain and lower right abdominal pain(I thought was just a pulled ligament). I woke up with this pain in lower abdomen in the recovery room.

The lower back pain is getting worse as time goes on. I thought it was from a recent diagnosis of hypothyroid but xrays revealed the following. Any help would be appreciated and do I need surgury? It hurts to sleep, sit and bend . .  is walking OK?

Thanks, Sue

The plain film does not suggest any bony abnormality.  I would consider more comprehensive testing at this point.

A nerve conduction study can be considered to evaluate for neuropathy or pinched nerve.  A back MRI can also be considered to look for a herniated disk or ligament damage.

At this time, a referral to an orthopedist or physiatrist (rehabiliation MD) can be considered.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
