Stop bleeding of cut on tongue

A bite on the top of tongue has created constant bleeding that I cannot stop.  Small semi circle shaped cut; approximately 1/4 inch is size of circle.

If there continues to be bleeding, a referral to an oral surgeon should be considered for further evaluation.

There are many things that can cause excessive bleeding.  First, ensure that you are not on medications that can cause this (i.e. Motrin/Advil, blood thinners, aspirin).  Blood tests evaluated clot time and platelet count can also be considered to see if there are any bleeding disorders present.
