Success after surgery!!!!!!

Success after surgery!!!!!!

This is not really a question - more of a history and report to help others.  I am a 42 yr old female with and interstitial lung disease.  I was told in 2004 that I needed a hysterectomy (long story).  Before and after that surgery my serum calcium was high.  After recovery they continued to monitor this level an do PTH levels.  I must say that in my small community I do seem to have the cream-of-the-crop...they would not let it go and referred me a large community miles away after serum calium levels of 12.0 and higher and PTH levels in the 100's.  I did not want to go - hate driving in traffic etc... But I did.  I have to say that 1.  it was the best treatment in a hospital I have ever had ( and I'm not an easy patient) 2. after removing the left superior parathyroid I am free of symptoms that for years were attributed to other disorders.  I am no longer taking anti-depressants and have more energy than I've had in years.  I would just like people to know that it is a surgery that can change your life.  I was worried because of my lung disease and anasthesia, but it all worked out wonderfullly.  I was the first first person discharged from Surgical ICU - they had no other rooms available at the time - I really did not need to be there anymore (it was only 24 hrs after my surgery).  The only regret I have is not having surgery sooner.
