Underarm irritation feeling and left arm numbness

For the past year I have experienced a numbness in my left arm, and the feeling of like shaving irritation under both my arms,(arm pit area) but mostly my left side. It bothers me to wear a bra or anything close to the skin in that underarm area. I have baffled all my doctors with these symtoms (symptoms) which have included, general practioner, gynecologist, cardiologist, and a neurologist. All test done have come back negative. I am at a loss. I feel in my heart this is not normal to experience these symtoms (symptoms) on a daily basis. I am a 47 year old female and any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The pain sounds like it is neurologic in nature.  I know that you have been seen by a neurologist, but a second opinion may be a reasonable option.  Any type of nerve impingement in the axillar area or cervial disk can lead to arm numbness.

I would consider a cervical MRI for further evaluation.  I would also discuss the possibility of electrodiagnostic testing (i.e. an EMG) with your neurologist.

If everything comes back negative, you may want to inquire about a referral to a physiatrist (rehabilitation specialist) for further evaluation.  

Followup with your personal physician is essential.

I have the exact same symptons as LucyLR. I have had xrays, MRI's, nerve testing and a catscan but nothing. My left arm goes numb intermitanly all day long, mostly in my inner side down to my thumb and fist finger. It is so annoying and I am always in good health so I am very frustrated. LucyLR have you founf out more about your condition? Have you been tested for Lyme? Can you share? Thanks
