cold leg child

cold leg child

My son of almost 5 years old sometimes suffers from cold legs. It has now happened about 4 times in the past 2 months. It also happened once last summer 2008. Generally when he has had a very active / intensive day. He does have low levels of iron (seen in blood exams). Twice it was one leg only, the other 2 times both legs. They do not feel cold touching the skin and the temperature currently where we live is 30 °C... thus hot (we live in the North of Italy)!
He has no other permanent symptoms if not sometimes swallen eyes (area under the eye) when just awake and sometimes a little blue / redish also during the day and he is sometimes tired during the day.

He has had the Kawasaki illness in September 2006 with no consequences.

What can it be? Have been to various pediatricians but they say it's just an isolated event....
Any specific exams needed?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi there,
my main concern would be related to vascular complications related to the history of Kawasaki... I think you should make sure that your pediatrician is aware of this history, and that they at least check all of your son's pulses to make sure they are strong.  If there is any concern about his pulses, they may want to do further testing.

Good luck.
