mystery condition

several months ago i started experiencing muscle pain in my right arm around the area of my elbow, as it progressed, range of motion in my elbow decreased which after a month or so resulted in locking of my elbow. i went to a hand surgeon who was relativly sure it was a loose body in my elbow, and sent me for a cat scan which resulted in no obvious loose body. he still was sure thats what it was, and wanted me to have a scope done. in the past 4 weeks since he suggested the scope (i have not had it done), i began having the same pain that preceded the locking elbow in my left arm, in my right arm! and now in the last 2 weeks i have been having muscle & joint pain in the knuckles of both hands, with tightening of the tendons when i wake up every morning. the tightening is so bad i can not fully extend my fingers, and they also seem to lock and 'snap' straight until i move them around, and they are painful and restricted all day. i really dont even know what kind of dr to see! i would appreciate any advice or direction you could give me.

I would consider another orthopedic referral.  An MRI of the affected area can determine if there is any ligament or tendon damage.

If the symptoms continue despite negative testing, a referral to a rheumatologist can be considered to look for a more systemic cause (i.e. arthritis).  Blood tests looking for ANA and rheumatoid factor can be considered if this avenue is followed.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.

thank-you for your response! i am looking into both, but because of the strange symtoms (symptoms) that came on so quickly in addition to the muscle pain, it just doesnt have the clear symptoms of arthritis. the thing i am kind of embassassed to even ask my dr, is if it could be something else that doesnt fall into any standard category diagnosis. i drink aprox. 15-30 cups every day of strong imported green tea, i wonder if i could have some kind of green tea leave overdose, or, i have breast implants, i wonder if the quick appearance of symptoms i am having can be the result of sylicone leakage.
