strange symptoms

I am a 26 year old female that's needs some help.  It all started Aug. 1, 2005 I came down with common cold/flu symtptoms.  About the second day into this I noticed that I was real dizzy.  I decided to make an appt. with my GP and they drew blood and everything was normal.  They thought I just had vertigo.  Well about a month later I was still experiencing this and started to notice some tingling in my arms and legs.  My GP scheduled me for an MRI and that came back normal.  I started getting really bad headaches so they referred me to an neurologist.  He performed an neuro exam and ran some blood test(west nile) and that all was normal.  I finally went to see a ENT in Nov. 05 when he right away said I had vestibular neuronitis and it can take months for it to resolve.  My dizziness has been getting better, but for about three months now, I have been experiencing muscle twitching and pain.  No weakness that I can notice.  I really irritates me and kind of worries me.  I scheduled another appt. to see my neurologist and he performed another full neuro exam and ran an EMG and tested my nerves and reassured me that everything was fine and that I had benigh twitches.  He only tested one muscle in my right arm and two nerves in my leg.  He thought that I could have fibromylgia (fibromyalgia) or some chemical inbalance that could also be causing the twitches.  I have been reading about ALS and kind of have it stuck in my mind that I have this.  I know it's fairly rare, especially someone my age, but it can happen.  My neurologist gave me his 100% guarantee that I did not have this.  I have another appt. with a different neurologist for a second opinion.  Could you give me some insight on what other test I could have done or just your thoughts on what I have wrote.  Thanks so much.

You have had a pretty good evaluation already.  With the negative testing thus far, I would say that ALS is unlikely.

More specialized tests to consider would be audiometry as well as brainstem evoked audiometry.  The latter test would be done to evaluate the possibility of an acoustic neuroma.

The second neurologic evaluation is reasonable.  If fibromyalgia is a concern, you can consider a referral to a rheumatologist.

You can discuss the more specialized testing mentioned above with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.

I have a lot of your symptoms. I have posted on here to see if anyone has had or still has the same problems I do. I had a hysterectomy in Oct. and have a lot of strange things going on. I have been to 3 neurologist now. 13 doctors total and they say nothing is wrong, except for the endocrinologist. Since the surgery I have developed a thyroid problem. I have had an MRI,MRA, many blood tests, EKG and saw the eye Dr. also a carotid (spell) ultrasound. All came back good. I sympathize with you and your problems. I hope you find you whats wrong. I keep reading this site to see if I can find anything. So good luck to you...
