A homogenous pattern refers to the character of the ANA blood test. The pattern of the ANA is studied by microscope. The technician examines a specially prepared slide that shows where antibodies attack the nucleus. Certain antibodies attack certain areas of the nucleus, producing four specific patterns.

Titres that are high as well as homogenous (1:160 or higher) are suggestive of idiopathic or drug induced SLE.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.

ANA stands for anti-nuclear-antibody.  These are antibodies that you body makes that mistakenly target the nuclear proteins of your own cells instead of pathogens.

A homogenous pattern of reactivity is suggestive of a high titer of auto-antibodies (> 1:40).  Titers this high are suggestive of diseases such as Systemic Sclerosis or Lupus.  In fact i believe the higher end of the spectrum is more suggestive of SLE.

Just curious about what your symptoms have been.  How old are you?  What made you decide to go to the doctor.

I DISAGREE WITH UR STATEMENT THAT A TITER OF  1:40 IS HIGH, AND BASICALLY INDICATIVE OF AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE. EVERYTHING I READ, BASICALLY SAYS THAT A TITER OF 1:40 IS LOW, AND IN SOME LABS IS CONSIDERED NORMAL.  5 % OF THE NORMAL POPUATION TEST POSITIVE FOR ANA.   UR INFO, CAN LEAD A PERSON TO HAVE UNNEEDED ANXIETY, AND WORRY.
