swollen, bruised ankle

Five days after I bumped my right shin, I noticed my right ankle was swollen and discolored as though bruised, but I had no pain. Four days later it's still swollen and discolored, but I have no pain, just a little discomfort from the swelling. I can't remember twisting or banging my ankle. What could be causing this?

Hi,
The trauma to your shin will cause the swelling and bruising in your ankle due to gravity.  This should resolve within 3-4 weeks.  If you are having discomfort due to the swelling, you can use an ACE bandage to keep the swelling down.  You can also elevate the leg when you are sitting.
