Bleeding when intercourse

i am 41 yrs old as i've recall it begin this year 2008 i notice that when we having intercourse with my husband im bleeding its like spotting and since it happen for me its not normal as i already had in my previous year that i only bleeding when i have my menstrual cycle. up to now i encouter this as always so i was afraid sometime to have intercourse with my hubby cause im bleeding and my husband asking me why it happen to me i notice i had a bad smell of my vagina since i was bleeding. But i observe my body i dont notice any changes in my health for me nothing change except i was bleeding when we intercourse.
my question is do i have a sickness and what is the medication or medicine i take so i will not bleeding when we have intercourse..Do i have to go the doctor for check up? Please advice me what to do cause i am so burden and i dont want it cause of our marriage to be broken.
