Desperately Seeking Help.

by Kittykate, Sep 10, 2008 11:52AM
I have been diagnosed with Central Hypoventilation syndrome with hypoxia.  Treatment for this is Oxygen at 2lts over night. For three years my bladder was atonic and I self catheterized during this time to empty my bladder.  Afterwards was diagnosed with interstitial cyctitis. Sometimes it is still quite difficult initiating voiding. At times I suffer with diplopia and blurred vision. Upon wakening my arms and hands are almost always numb and sometimes completely paralysed. Sometimes parts of my face, hands, fingers, feet are tingling and often numb when sitting or lying down or at rest. I've also experienced several episodes of sleep paralysis.  I wonder if the low oygen levels are related to other general syptoms (symptoms) such as constant pain throughout my body and the general numbness. I have been diagnosed as having fibromyalgia and believe this is the cause of pain in the muscles. However other sometimes almost excruciating pain that seems to be a from a build up of some kind of fluid and to get relief I have to almost constantly apply gentle massage to ease this away from extremities, up the limb to the lymph nodes in the groin or to armpits where it seems to dam up in the lymph nodes as painful lumps on both sides and in my breasts.  When sitting I constantly flex my muscles to try to ease the pain and numbness but all this is obviously time consuiming and exhausting to say the least.  Investigative blood tests seem to be basically normal although blood gasses have at times indicated above normal ranges and I have heard the term 'lactic acidosis' but my general practitioner doesn't seem to be aware of half the story and seems to think I have somatisation disorder.  Personally I feel this is a term used for the cases thrown into the 'too hard basket' and given that I have a long and complicated medical/surgical history (far more extensive than am able to relate on here) is less time consuming to favor this diagnosis.  I am under specialist care for the oxygen treatment and have recently been referred to a neurologist and physician upon repeated request.
I was diagnosed with NIDDand treated with Diaformin however with diet I have managed to contol this for at least a year now without medication. I have had a hysterectomy and both ovaries have been removed. Often I have hot flushes and break out in all over perspiration. I do not take hormone replacement tablets.
I had some investigations into MS about four years ago and the neurologist said he didn't think I have this.

It is difficult going through the entire list of symptoms for anyone to see the whole picuture.  I would really like to understand what is going on and if it is plausible to say that my body as a whole and in its various systems is having difficulty operating properly because of insufficient levels of oxygen. I wonder if this would be causing pain, fatigue and generalized feelings of being unwell. Does this seem likely and could there be another probable cause for these symptoms?
I appreciate any comments.
