Easy bruising

by bridge801, Mar 19, 2009 10:23PM
I have had about 15-20 black and blues on my legs for about two weeks now. I went to health services today and they took 5 tubes of blood. They said i fell in the normal ranges sort of- on a scale one to ten- i was like a 9.5. or a 1.2 - i don't know what to make of this, but they want to do a repeat on monday of all the bloodtests. This morning i only had bruises on my legs, tonight they are appearing on my left arm. Is this a sign of cancer?

Stop thinking about cancer, for goodness sakes!

It sounds like they are giving you a thorough evaluation, in accordance with food medical practice. They will undoubtedly give you a clotting test.

There are a range of possibilities, the most likely being a clotting disorder. Clotting disorders can be simply dealt with, or they can be complex.

Sometimes, the problem is simply a lack of vitamin K in the diet, resolveable by a simple multi-vitamin tablet.

They took so much blood because they want to rule out all possibilities. I think you are in good hands with your physicians, and want you to stop worrying and let them finish up the tests.

I bruise so very easily and have most of my 38 years. they have checked me for diabetes, and everytthing you can think of the only they come up with and they didn't say it was related but the only thing was that I am severely anemic, from something.
they might be checking your hemoglobin and hematocrit for those # not sure which is which but one is a sign of anemia
god luck

Hey I use to bruise alot and I did'nt have cancer, leaukemia or anything like that. They are probably just taking precautions by taking more blood to be on the safe side that's a good thing. My aunt had leukemia and had severe flu like symptoms not just bruising I don't even know if bruising was  a symptom of hers. I seen her a couple times and from what I noticed she did not have any bruising. MY point is I would think you would have more symptoms then bruising. I'm sorry to hear this I know how hard it is to wait for blood results it can be stressful. I will pray for you hang in there.

Thanks everybody, It is good to hear that there is probably nothing wrong. But i got the results back and they said everything falls just within the normal values by a pinch. So I have to go back and they are going to re-take it. So we'll see what happens this week. Thank you all  though, for all of your comments.
