Firm Lump on the Side of My Left Thigh

by tango123, Mar 26, 2009 07:44PM
Hello. I'm a 19 year old female with a painless firm lump on the side of my left thigh measuring around  2-ish inches. There is a noticeable horizontal dent mid-thigh right before the lump is located. Im fairly sure it appeared when I increased the frequency and intensity of my workouts. I dont think i stretched properly either. At first i thought it was some sort of snapped quad muscle, but i didnt feel any pain so that made no sense. I went to the clinic and after 5 mins the doctor said it is probably a lipoma. However, contrary to what I've been reading on the internet, the lump is not soft and moveable like a lipoma should be, its more firm and fixed. Its not causing me any discomfort (although its pretty hideous) but I'd really like to be certain that it isnt something more serious. Is a dent than a lump typical of more serious afflications like liposarcomas? Any theories as to what it could be?
