Hi. I’m a 24 year-old female, and I’m sexually active. My boyfriend of 3,5 years and I are both faithful and clean. I would like to ask for your help to solve my health problem..

At least once everyday, I have these symptoms:
1. Urge to urinate even though I’ve just urinated (but this urge only come for 1 or 2 times) and it’s a little bit painful when I urinate in this condition.
2. Lower abdominal discomfort especially after having the urge to urinate
3. My vagina feels a bit pain or discomfort, and a little bit itchy. But this will last only for 5 minutes. I usually wash it with water and usually goes away after that (I don’t know if it’s because I wash it, or just go away after 10 minutes or so)

This only happen once in one day, only in the morning or night. (It’s been 5 days so it happened for 5 times now) And the rest of the day, I’m okay. There’s no change of urine smell and I think it’s also clear (not cloudy like when I had UTI). Or maybe haven’t? I’ve been taking vitamin C and cranberry juice from the 1st day I got the symptoms.

Also sometimes I found a clear coloured slimy liquid on my vagina when I showered. Has this anything to do with the pain I’m feeling?

Could you please tell me what might be happening and the possible solution?

Thank you SO much.

Infection should be ruled out first.  This can be done with a urinalysis as well as tests for STDs.

You can consider evaluating for various metabolic diseases - such as diabetes and thyroid disorders with various blood tests.

If the cause remains non-revealing, a referral to a urologist may be necessary for more specialized testing.  This can include urodynamic studies to look at the bladder function, as well as a potassium sensitivity test looking for interstitial cystitis.

I cannot connect the vaginal liquid with your symptoms without evaluation.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician or urologist.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.

You should see a physician.  Your problem could be as simple as a UTI or it could be something else.  The urinine is not always cloudy especially in the early stages.  Your doctor will collect a sample and determine if you have an infection.  Bacterial vaginosis is also an option which poses the risk of PID and possible infertility.  I would make an appointment with your local health clinic or your physician.
