I have had several of the 10 treatment Imferon (iron dextran) courses. After the 3rd treatment I noticed I had more energy and less shortness of breath. I had no real adverse reactions, although it did upset my stomach a bit and there was a bit of "all over ache " that was managed just fine with some tylenol. My Dr. was very good about finding the appropriate pre-treatment medication levels to avoid side effects. For me these included Benadryl, solumedrol and tagamet prior to the infusion. Just make sure to bring a book or mp3 player - as it takes them a while to run the infusions at first.
Good Luck and I hope you will be feeling better soon - Scarlett
