Lump

by Caileigh_Paige, Sep 11, 2009 04:45PM
I have had a lump on the back of my scalp since i was about 14, i am now 24.  I've never had it checked out because i'm a little scared.  At first when it appeared, there was actually 2 lumps and a couple of years ago one of them got really infected.  I went to my mom to see what she would have to say about it, and the thing just exploded.  The one that is still on my head, isn't painful or anything, but i'm just a little concerned about it as i get older....could you please tell me what it could be and what my options are....thanx

hi
this lump sounds benign, it might be a cyst- sebaceous cyst which is accumulation of skin fat in an obstructes canal, a lipoma which is a benign skin tumor.
usually malignant lumps get bigger in time.
You can go to your dermatologist without fear of cancer
