Mono and Fifth Disease?

by MomofCandR, Aug 09, 2009 12:34AM
I was recently diagnosed with Mono.  My symptoms included joint pain, swelling, and exhaustion.  While my symptoms were starting to improve both of my young children came down with Fifth Disease.  They had relatively mild symptoms and were better within a week of the first signs of rash.  It has been almost 4 weeks since I learned I had Mono and I am now seeing a rash that looks an awful lot like the ones my kids had.  I would like to know if I should be concerned about having these two illnesses so close together.  I am very tired and achy all the time.  I know both illnesses usually just have to run their course.  But I have also read that having Fifth Disease with a compromised immune system can lead to complications.  Do I need to see a doctor or can I wait this out?

Hello

Seeing as you have both of these issues, I think I would see a doctor, you could wait it out, but, it is best to get checked to rule out any other problems.

Good luck and please keep us posted.
