Neck and headaches while studying

by Oapples, Oct 03, 2009 01:49AM
Hi,

I have had this problem for quite a long time, and will try to describe it as clearly and briefly as possible.

Sometimes (I'm not sure exactly why) but often have these pains on the back side in the joint between my upper spine and the back of my skull. I think you call this the Atlanto-occipital joint. This mostly happens on long drives (only when I'm driving myself) or when I'm studying for too long. Moving my head in circles or sideways results in cracking, which temporarily gives a quick relief in pain, but I personally think later amounts to this pain.

There is a lot of pain in this joint and if I continue to drive or study this my head starts hurting as well, and the aches gradually increase. If I can't stop studying and have to push myself too hard I start feeling very dizzy. This headache is more like a migraine, and is becoming more and more of a problem and hindrance as a college student. I typically have to study at least 5 hours a day, and this is ruining a lot of things for me.

If you can you need to get up and stand every 10 or 15 minutes. I know that's impossible while driving but not when your studying.
You also might want to see a Chiropractor. I was having problems like you and started seeing one and she has really helped me. Take care. Remar
