I have a history of missed abortionAbortion Abortion - elective or therapeutic Abortion procedure Miscarriage (miscarraige) and multiple OBGYN's and Fertility Specialists (MD's) at the some of the most trusted hospital facilities have drawn the conclusion that my progesterone levels (luteal phase defect) are too low to carry a pregnancy to term. My doctor has me taking progesterone suppositories for two purposes: 1) to build the lining of my uterus. 2) to keep my progesterone at a level to not initiate ovulation during the pregnancy. I will be taken off of the progesterone after week 12 as the placentaAnatomy of a normal placenta Placenta Placenta abruptio Placenta previa Ultrasound, normal placenta - braxton hicks Ultrasound, normal relaxed placenta will be able to produce its own, substantial quantities of progesterone. The FDA has not approved the use of Progesterone, not becuase it is dangerous for mother or fetus, but rather becuase it doesn't always guarantee a womanWomen's way will not miscarry. Many times if a womanWomen's way has a luteal phase defect she might have other fertility issues as well. Progesterone therapy during pregnancy has a 50 % success rate according to medical studies. Also, a womanWomen's way's body will only absorb menial ammounts of the hormone - if it is taken orally very littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys progesterone, as little as 4%, is actually absorbed. Typically the positive statistics are reflective of suppositories or injections. This hormone is no more dangerous than typical hormones used, like birth control pills. I feel the doctors comments on this site are uninformed to say the least and contradict many fertility specialists.
