Recurring Hives

by ware02, Sep 19, 2008 09:54AM
My friend received a spider bite (suspected black widow) approx 4 years ago and ever since she has frequent outbreak of hives all over her body. She has been seen by mulitple allergists and no one can give her a definite answer as to why she is having these outbreaks. She practically lives on oral prednisone, its the only thing that gives her a minimal amount of relief. If she goes for several days off prednisone she becomes covered in these hives (whelps) and they itch terribly. The more she scratches the worse they get.

She is desperate for some answers.

She should ask how much Prednisone and how long as it has side effects and long term effects, I am trying to research it online as I have chronic Urticaria since May, (Hives) it may not have been the spider bite caused it she could be allergic to something, there is a very long and interestin thread on the Allergy site tell your friend to go there ,it gives severall ideas, what to do what to take, quite honestly I believe it will run its course and I will just have to put up with it,
